Vimasco Elastafab 894 Cloth is a unique reinforcing cloth for use with weather barrier mastics and similar elastomeric coatings. It is embedded within the coating during application, and is scientifically designed to provide the strength and elastic properties essential in a weather-barrier system to obtain long, maintenance free service life. Vimasco Elastafab 894 may be used with any type of mastic, such as cutback asphalts or emulsions. It is especially recommended for the high grade resin emulsions manufactured by Vimasco Corporation such as WC-1, WC-5, WC-7, AC-9 and RK-10.
Elastafab 894, woven entirely of modacrylic fibers, is inherently superior in strength and elongation to other types of reinforcing cloth typically used over thermal insulation.
In addition to functioning as a reinforcing cloth, Vimasco Elastafab 894 also serves to bridge gaps and provide a continuity of surface over butt joints and irregular surfaces.
Mastic weather barrier systems reinforced with Elastafab 894 provide excellent protection for low, moderate and high temperature thermal insulation systems such as cellular glass, calcium silicate, expanded silica, perlite, glass fiber and mineral fiber.
Elastafab 894 cloth will also improve water-proofing mastics used on masonry walls and foundations. It provides an extra measure of water protection where settlement can cause cracks in masonry. The mastic/cloth system will elongate to bridge cracks thus maintaining an unbroken seal.

Strength and Elongation when Embedded in Vimasco WC-5 Mastic:
(Test Strip - 1/2" Wide x 4" Long, 1/16" total thickness. Test result obtained using leno weave design)
Vimasco Elastafab 894 is a mesh cloth constructed with eight openings to the inch. (This is the smallest opening which can be used satisfactorily with heavy built mastics for obtaining a good bond between first tack coat and top overcoat of mastic.)
In drying, the top coat of the mastic will shrink around the yarn, letting the weave pattern show itself on the surface, and giving the weather-barrier surface a pleasing textured appearance.
